Lucy joined the family on March 1, 2003 .  After the deaths of Jasper and Nikki 4 days apart in January 2003, Frankie needed a companion and playmate.  We found out about Lucy, had her come down to meet Frankie in early February, and they hit it off right from the start.  Lucy became our 6th Siberian Husky.  She and Frankie were terrific buddies, playing and running in the yard; and going just about everywhere together.  She did wonders for both Frankie and me to pull us out of the doldrums. And for that I will be forever grateful.

Conformation

Lucy’s show career got off to a decent start. In her first 14 competitions she had one 4th place, four 3rd places, 3 reserves to majors and two 1st places in the Open Bitch class.  Lucy finally broke through for her first points in a big way. She went WB for a 3 point major at the Delaware Water Gap KC on December 13, 2003.  Following that win, Lucy  earned two more majors and had 12 points before taking time out for puppies.  After a 6 month layoff, Lucy came back to the ring with several reserves and earned her 13th point.  On Friday May 13, 2005 at the Pocono Mountain KC Lucy finished her Championship title (photo at right) when she went WB, BOW, BOB for 2 points.

Obedience

In October 2006 Lucy and her handler, Lois Ann, both entered an obedience ring for the very first time.  This time it was Rally Obedience.  They qualified on 3 consecutive days to earn Lucy's Rally Novice (RN) title.  Now this team is getting ready for Novice B Obedience and Rally Advanced.

Lucy started competing in Novice B Obedience in January 2008.  She earned her first leg towards her CD in her first trial.  Then in her second trial she had an encounter with a ripe garbage can and we had to fix a new problem.  In January 2009 Lucy got back to her qualifying ways with her second leg.  A month later she earned her 3rd leg towards her CD but there was no title because Link didn't realize this was the same judge under whom she earned her first leg.  So Lucy had to earn a fourth leg, which she did in mid-March 2009 to finally get her CD Title.  Lucy is now officially retired from Obedience competition.

On February 8, 2015 we had to help Lucy begin her new journey at the Rainbow Bridge, where she is free of any pain and free to roam and play with her boy friend Frankie. She leaves behind a wonderful legacy of great kids and grandkids, some of whom are doing great things in conformation, obedience, rally and agility. Frankie and I were so blessed to have her join our family when she did. Lucy joined us about 7 weeks after Nikki and Jasper passed away 4 days apart in mid-January 2003. She perked us both up and really made things exciting as the 3 of us got to know each other. We will miss her greatly. Rest in peace, Lucy.

This morning we helped our girl Lucy, July 17, 2001 – February 8, 2015, cross to the Rainbow Bridge. Lucy’s full name was Am. Can. CH Arlington The Critic’s Choice CD RN OA OAJ NAP NJP CGC.

When Nikki and Jasper died days apart in Jan. 2003, Frankie was alone for the first time and he became very depressed – wouldn’t eat or go outside. He needed a companion. Lucy joined the family March 1, 2003 at the age of 18 months. Her presence did the trick for Frankie, and me. Then we started training and between litters she went on to great careers as indicated by her titles. When Nikki and Jasper died days apart in Jan. 2003, Frankie was alone for the first time and he became very depressed – wouldn’t eat or go outside. He needed a companion.

But, most of all, Lucy was a wonderful Siberian Husky, companion and friend. With her tail always wagging, she was ready and willing to do just about anything from showing, training or just playing with the other pack members. Rest in peace Lucy, free of pain as you play at the Rainbow Bridge with your boy friend Frankie and others gone before you.

Agility

In November 2004 Lucy made her agility debut.  In typical Siberian Husky fashion, she entertained the crowd with her antics and her zoomies around the ring.  But, she did get her 1st Q in Novice B Standard.  There's no turning back now! In March 2005 Lucy earned a QQ and a month later Q'd for her NA title.   And, a few weeks after that she earned her NAJ title.  Now it's on to Open once we nail down those dratted weave poles.  Lucy earned her Open JWW (OAJ) Title in December 2007 and is now looking for that last Open Standard Q.  Lcuy got that elusive 3rd Open Standard Q in early April 2009 to earn her OA Title with a 2nd Place.

Lucy came out of a short retirement in 2010 to run for Lois Ann and earn her NAP and NJP titles in short order. After that it was permanent couch potato time for Lucy.

Canada

At the end of June 2003 Lucy took her first trip to Canada.  We drove up to Trois Rivieres, Quebec where she had a three day weekend of conformation.  Lucy finished the weekend with 2 BOBs, a Group 3 and a Group 1 and 10 Championship points with 2 majors.  She needs 1 point under a third judge for her Championship title.

In June 2005 we returned to Canada (Trois Rivieres, again).  Lucy had a great weekend by going BOS for her Canadian Championship point, BOB and then another BOS.  Two Excellent weekends in Canada!!

BulletJuly 3, 2004 Lucy gave birth to 7 beautiful Siberian Husky puppies.  Papa Romeo (Rockland's Starr Crossed Lover) was justifiably proud.  There were 5 girls & 2 boys.  Unfortunately, one of the girls only survived 2 1/2 days.  Of the remaining 6 puppies, 5 are gray/white and 1 girl is black/white.
