Conformation

At exactly 6 months of age Spenser made his Conformation debut by winning his 6-9 Month Puppy Dog Sweepstakes and 6-9 Month Puppy Dog Regular classes on consecutive days at both the Siberian Husky Club of Delaware Valley and the Garden State Siberian Husky Club specialties.

After a few RWDs Spenser broke the ice with a very nice WD 3 point major win at the New Brunswick KC show in late March 2008.  Since then he had several more RWDs, and a single point win.  Then at the Garden State Siberian Husky Club Specialty in late May 2008 Spenser struck paydirt again with a WD 3 point major win for his 2nd major.  Now that the hardest part was out of the way we went after those remaining single points.

Over the next 3 1/2 months Spenser interspersed four RWDs and six 1 point wins and a BBBE Group 2 to earn his Championship title at the age of 15 months.  Five of those 6 WD were also BOWs.

Obedience

Spenser began his obedience career in the new Beginner Novice B class and quickly earned his BN title, even with a glitch where the judge in his first trial caused his disqualification.

He moved on to Novice B where he has one leg and has been having trouble remembering to sit for the full one minute in the group stays. But we’re working on that and he’ll figure it out. We think we’ve worked out the kinks and Spenser earned his 2nd CD leg in September 2013. And he earned his 3rd leg for his CD title on November 3.

Spenser seemed to take to Open pretty easily and after a few near misses he got his first leg towards his CDX title on August 30, 2015. During 2015 we started training for Utility and these exercises seemed easy for Spenser to master. So we were just waiting for his CDX to be completed so we could jump into Utility.

Unfortunately, we never got the chance, as Spenser crossed over to the Rainbow Bridge on November 6, 2015 (see Finale below). Wear your Silver Harness with pride, Spenser. God speed.

Agility

After about 8 months of training Spenser started competing in agility. He was, still is, scary fast. He quickly earned his first 2 Qs in Novice JWW but then got stuck there. In the meantime he was progressing and earned his Novice STD (NA) title. In Open STD he earned his first 2 Qs fairly quickly and got stuck with the same issue as in Novice JWW.

We went back to the drawing board to work on this issue and eventually he got that 3rd Q and moved up to Excellent STD, then Master STD where he earned his MX title. He has also moved up to Open JWW followed by Excellent JWW and Master JWW. Most of his Qs have been placements, with several 1st places in the highly competitive 20” class.
